ALAN EDWARDS

KEY QUALIFICATIONS With over thirty-five years of experience in the upstream hydrocarbon industry, Alan Edwards has a proven track record in developing and cost effectively managing, major projects. This experience was gained within both contracting and oil companies, and involved direct negotiations with governments, companies and the World Bank. He has particular expertise in international exploration geophysics, with a broad experience in exploration geology and has trained in production geology. He played key roles in the discovery of the Takula oil field (Angola), the Q8 gas field (Netherlands) and the 49/9 oil accumulation (Ireland) and in the first multinational regional seismic well tie survey of West Africa. Alan began his career data processing (seismic, gravity and survey data) with Ray Geophysical Co 1971. In 1975 he joined Gulf Oil as a geophysicist in the international group. He left Gulf Oil in 1985 when he was Chief Geophysicist/Exploration Director for Gulf Oil Ireland to join Kuwait Foreign Petroleum as the Regional Co-ordinator for Africa. In 1986 he co-founded Fairway Exploration Limited, a very successful consulting/contracting company. During 1998, he joined with Exploration Geosciences Ltd to establish Exploration Geosciences Europe & Africa Limited 1998, then in 1999 the two companies were integrated and he became a director of Exploration Geosciences Limited. RECENT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 1999 to date: Exploration Geosciences Ltd - Director Involved in all activities of the company including project management, report generating, interpretation, exploration consulting and internet solutions. 1998 to 1999: Exploration Geosciences (Europe and Africa) Ltd - Director Primary role of project management, interpretation and product generation on Africa with secondary role in exploration consulting. 1986 to 1997: Fairway Exploration Ltd - Director Co-author/project manager for reports on hydrocarbon potential of basins in Africa, Asia, Australia, and UK, plus seismic surveys West Africa and Irish Sea. Numerous exploration consulting projects for major and independent oil companies, and for the World Bank. 1985 to 1986: Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Co-ordinated exploration activities in Africa and acted as geophysical consultant for other regions and for numerous farm-in reviews. Declined position of Chief Geophysicist in Kuwait. 1975 to 1985: Gulf Oil Corporation Following 6 month training program in Houston and assignment at main R & D centre, began work on international exploration evaluations in Pittsburgh, Houston and London. This included temporary assignment in Texas as a domestic production geologist. In 1980, Transferred to London to continue working on international exploration, then moved to Dublin to become Chief Geophysicist/Exploration Co-ordinator for Gulf Oil Ireland. After the Chevron merger with Gulf, a promotion to the London office was declined. 1971 to 1974:Petty-Ray Geophysical Company First professional employment as processing geophysicist in London, then party manager for Tunis office responsible for processing of land and marine seismic, gravity and survey positioning data.
