Job Vacancies: Geophysicist + Geologist

Exploration Geosciences are currently looking for a geologist and a geophysicist to join the company.

Location: SE England/London: our preference is for staff to work in our head office in Goudhurst, but for highly qualified individuals working at home is an option - we currently have a 40:60% split between office and home. We are also considering opening an office in Central London to provide greater flexibility for our staff and clients. If working from home, this would need to be within easy reach of the office as you may be required to spend several days a month here. Note that for consultancy work, we do not normally place staff in client's offices.

The company: Exploration Geosciences is a long-established and expanding geological and geophysical consultancy with a track record of producing high quality regional reports, influential publications and helping oil companies acquire acreage and discover hydrocarbons. We are looking for the right individuals to be part of the company’s expansion both in the UK and internationally.

The candidate: The ideal candidates will have (most of) the following:

  • experience in the UKCS and other major hydrocarbon province(s) worldwide
  • a proven ability to develop new exploration ideas
  • recent oil company experience, preferably with an operator
  • an ability to work quickly, independently and with minimal supervision whilst being part of a team
  • excellent communication skills
  • high level workstation skills (preferably SMT and ArcGIS)
  • for geophysicists, a good understanding of specialist topics such as AVO, depth migration or potential fields would be an advantage
  • for geologists, a good understanding of specialist areas such as geochemistry, petrophysics or sequence stratigraphy would be an advantage.

Remuneration: we offer a competitive salary - relative to independent oil companies - together with a generous profit-based bonus scheme. There may also be the opportunity to earn (or purchase) shares in the company.
